The Winter's Tale

Visited Newcastle/Gateshead last weekend and the area has certainly changed since we last visited a number of years ago. The purpose of our visit was to see The Winter's Tale performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company in the Theatre Royal. A great production and one of Shakespeare's plays we have not seen performed before. It is one of the last plays he wrote, so perhaps it was his salute to a long theatrical career. We also managed a visit to the Sage concert venue and the Baltic Contemporary Arts Centre. A great photographic exhibition. With a walk over the Millennium Bridge we were very impressed with the quality of the regeneration of Gateshead. It is a great pity that the RSC do not perform regularly in Edinburgh any more. I must ask, why not?
